Team "GAZPROM" wins Aeon Cup

After the preliminary rounds of Wednesday and THursday the following top teams were qualified for the Sunday's final of the AEON CUP 2006" of rhythmic gymnastics in Mie, Japan: GAZPROM (RUS) with 224,475 points, on second place the DERJUGINA SCOOL (UKR; 220,525), FOLLOWED BY DINAMO MINSK (BLR; 217.950) AND NEFCHTI (197,575; AZE): At the Sundays final the favorite Russian team "GAZPROM" won the 2006 trophy of the "AEON."

Baku Hosts European Championship in Rhythmic Gymnastics

The capital of Azerbaijan, Baku will host the 23rd European Championship of Rhythmic Gymnastics next year. Shahin Kazimzade, press secretary of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation informed, that the news was announced during the contract conclusion between Azerbaijan Federation and the Union of European Gymnastics (UEG) this week. In Baku were held the World Championships 2005, already. Europeans 2007 will be organized also for junior groups and the individual elite gymnasts. The event will go for 3 days: June 20 - July 1. The first delegation will arrive from June 24 on.

Vera Sessina - Total Triumph at Berlin Masters

On Sunday European Champion Vera Sessina (RUS) realiezed the total triumph of the this years Grand Prix Final, "BERLIN MASTERS", which was held to the 6th time in the German capital. After winning the Saturday's all-around Grand Prix qualification (67,757) in the Max Schmeling Halle ahead of Olga Kapranova (RUS/66,224) and Inna Zhukova (BLR/65,640), she was also the best gymnast at the Sunday's GRAND PRIX FINALS and about 2.800 visitors celebreted her four victories with all apparatuses. Olympic Champion Russia won the group all around with 32,150 points in front of Belarus and Azerbajan. Finland's Maria Ringinen was elected as "Miss Turnier 2006" by the spectators. [read more...]

24th CHACOTT Championships - Japanese Junior Championships

Last weekend in Tokyo, Japan took place the 2006 CHACOTT Championships, identically with the Japanese National Juniors Championships of Rhythmic Gymnastics. At the 24th anniversary top two gymnasts contend for the first place. Gold medal went to the very talented gymnast Kotono Tanaka (Matsuyaga RG). Yuka ENDO from "Stella" came on second place, followed by Kana YOKOYAMA from "NPO Gifu Rhythmic Gymnastics Club." [read more...]

22nd European Championships of Rhythmic Gymnastics

The 22nd European Championships of Rhythmic Gymnastics in the Rusian capital Moscow are over now. All gold medals went to the Russian hosts. Vera Sessina (RUS) narrowly won the individual all-around in front of title-holder Alina Kabaeva. The bronze medal went to Anna Bessonova from Ukraine. The Russian juniors won the team competition in front of Belarus and Bulgaria. On Friday the Russian group already won the first decision of these Europeans, the groups all-around, with 33.400 points in front of Italy and Belarus followed by Bulgaria, Spain and France. On the last day of these championships today Russia then won all four apparatus finals in the juniors competition as well as the two apparatus finals of the groups in the seniors field. After having been rejected by the UEG as host for this year?s European Championships, Portuguese city of Portimao receives this weekend in the brand new EXPOARADE Pavillion the world elite in rhythmic gymnastics. European Championships relocate to Russia

The Executive Committee of the European Gymnastics Union (UEG) decided on it's meeting in Prague to withdraw the European Championships of Rhythmic Gymnastics 2006 from the Portuguese Gymnastics Federation and the town of Portimao and hands over to the Russian Gymnastics Federation. [read more...]

Sessina new Queen of 'MTM Narodni Dom Tournament'

Russian star Vera Sessina was the best gymnast of 19th International MTM Tournament Narodni Dom for the City of Ljubljana Prize, where 73 gymnasts from 18 countries gathered to show their performances. Sessina showed exceptional routines and respectively won 5 gold medals. Svetlana Rudalova from Belarus got silver, Dinara Guimatova from Azerbaijan was third. Under the Patronage of Mayoress Club for Rhythmic Ggymnastics, "Narodni Dom" Ljubljana (Slovania) finally set the date for the 19th MTM Narodni Dom Tournament 2006. The competition will be in sports hall "Krim Galjevica" on the 8th of April 2006. This year, the tournament will be under the patronage of the mayoress of Ljubljana Mrs. Danica Sim�ič, so all the gymnasts from around the globe will compete at 19th MTM Narodni dom for the "Prize of Ljubljana City."
